Follow the steps below to record on the
PC. Although we are primarily recording sermons at this
point, these steps can be used to record anything coming through
the sound system.
Note: depending on
what you’re recording, you may want to adjust the quality of the
recording in step 6. As you would expect, the better the
quality, the bigger the file that will be produced.
1) Start “Windows Encoder”. The way the PC is set up
currently, this can be done by clicking on the shortcut icon in
the bottom task bar (4th to the right of the Windows “Start”
button).
2) Click on “Capture Audio or
Video” and “OK”
3) Click “Next”
4) Change the filename to whatever
you want. If you’re recording a sermon, please keep the
existing file format and just change the date and sermon title.
Then click “Next”.
5) Click “Next”
6) Use the pull down menu on
“Audio” to change to “FM Quality Audio” and click “Next”.
7) Change Title (usually just the date for sermons) and Author
(if applicable) and then click “Next”.
8) Click “Finish”
9) Click “Start Encoding” when ready to record. Note: it’s
generally best to run thru the 1st eight steps, so everything is
ready and then click “Start Encoding” when you’re ready.
10) Adjust volume on sound mixer if
necessary to ensure you’re getting the green bar up at least ¼
of the way. If you’re getting a lot of red, then the
volume is too high. We’re currently using the “Effects”
master volume (lower right corner of the mixer) for this.
11) When done recording, click “Stop”.
12) Click “Close”.
13) Answer “No” to the question “Do you want to save the session
before continuing?”.
